Licking County Historical Society

Get interested in local history by touring one or both of our museums: The Sherwood-Davidson House Museum and The Webb House Museum are open and available for tours! House museums maintain the look of a private residence, so take a trip back in time with your students to see how people used to live.
The Webb House (built in 1907) is located at 303 Granville Street, Newark, Ohio 43055 and is open Thursday and Friday from 1 - 4 PM. The Sherwood-Davidson (built in 1828) is open Tuesday, Thursday, and most Saturdays from 1 - 4 PM. Special group tours may be arranged by appointment.
LCHS also offers traveling tote museums that can be checked out and used for educating: Early 1800s (pioneer), Mid-1800s (medical), Turn of the Century (WWI), Childhood Memories (toys and school items), and Johnny Clem (Civil War). The totes are very helpful because they contain touch-artifacts – this just means that your kids can take a hands-on approach to history!
