Q: Is this something else that I am going to have to sign up for and have another id and password to participate in?

A: No - that is the beauty of this type of group- if you only want to receive emails to your inbox (and send messages to the group from your email) you do not have to do anything. If you indicated on your roster update form or on your join request form you wanted to participate in the email forum you are already a member. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking 'unsubscribe' in any of the emails you receive.

Q: Can I still receive an email each time someone sends it, or a daily digest of the emails?

A: Yes. Please alert the Communications Team Leader of your preference (if different than what your membership is set to) and your settings can be easily changed.

Q: What is the benefit of having an online forum?

A: Having an online forum allows members to visit this page and participate in discussions, in addition to receiving emails. The forum is also searchable - so if you have a question you think may have been already answered, you can find it.

Q: Do I have to participate in the online forum to get the information I need?

A: No, the forum is optional – you will receive emails regardless of your participation in the forum. However, if you would like to participate in the forum, you will need to set a user id/password with Google. To do so, just go to and set up a user name/password. You don’t need a gmail address to use this forum. The user name can be your email address (…@windstream, yahoo, hotmail, rocketmail, gmail, etc.) If you need help setting this up, the Communications Team Leader can assist.

Q: Can I both participate in the forum, AND get emails when members post messages?

A: Yes! You may manage everything from your existing email address inbox associated with your SHHS membership as messages will still show up in your inbox – and you may set up a login for the forum if you decide to do so.

Q: If this is on a website, who can see it?

A: The group forum is a private forum, you must ‘sign in’ to see it. It is not public on the internet. It is not included in internet web searches. Only members of our group, who sign in with their designated Google user name/password, will be able to see the forum contents. This portion of the site is SSL encrypted.

Q: When I am finished viewing, how do I sign out?

A: To sign out successfully, open a separate webpage and click on your user name at the top right corner and then click sign out. Refresh your SHHS Forum page and you will see a successful sign out as it will ask you to sign in if you are a member.
